Re:HiFD keeps slip-sliding away? If TEAC is pushing back its
shipping date, it's possibly because SONY is doing the same
(without yet announcing such).

Was told from the Sony rep here at Comdex that HiFD internal
wouldn't ship until the end of March.

IOM Trumps Sony,
While checking out the ship date a Sony rep was comparing
HiFD to Zip By stating that it was three times faster
than Zip ( not sure what models he was comparing to so
let that one slide by ,didn't want to put him on the defensive )
,was backward compatible to the 1.44 floppy ,
" And Twice The Size Of Zip eer was until they announced
their Zip 250."

These guys were ready to announce bigger and better
Sony HiFD. He kept on saying that " the big thing is it's
compatible to the 1.44 floppy ".
And well, we all know how much that's worth.

Epson said that they have tested Clik and were in talks with
IOM about Clik for a camera bundle.

Talked to IOM's tech support about the Zip250 disks, he
stated that in fact the media is the same as the 100 but
that the read write heads were smaller allowing for
tighter tracking. ( looks like improving margins )
Further that they've been tested extensively without problems.
Will be shipping in December.

An impression of the show this year.

Smaller is better, lots and lots of Handheld and
smaller laptops systems. Clik IMO has the right timing
here Any further delays would put in question it's
success. The number of products that it can service is huge.

One day left at Comdex.
