Byron -
You're in the Church of Dell, so expect a little heat for suggesting that any other computer vendor won't get it's A$$ kicked...

But a couple of corrections. I was heavily invested in SUNW at one point, and knew Scott and some of the other Sun players a little, but that was maybe 10 years ago. I still see some of them but have not seen Scott in a long time.

But he does indeed manage a 26B company
SUNW is more like $10B in revenue, or were you talking about something else like market cap?

He did not start SUNW, like Bill Gates did.
Scott, Bill Joy and a few others were certainly the founding fathers. None of those guys have the money that Gates and Dell have because they cashed out early to mezzanine and early venture funding. Scott in particular wanted to get rich NOW not later. Several of the other early players left over this very issue - they thought that waiting a little longer for the silicon valley high life was preferable to diluting their ownership by a factor of 10. If Scott and others had not made that choice they would be billionaires today.
