datek is having lots and lots of problems lately with open/close of market orders. today, there inability to get a limit order executed that was less than the bid cost me 2 pts on 300 shares. Earlier, i had a setup that i wanted to place at the open...i couldn't get in through 4 different servers... suffice to say, if they had executed the limit order i had, the trade would have gone through, and i would have been able to flip it later..overall, datek lack of execution cost me about $1200 today.
etrade on the other hand (i have accounts with both) permits option trading and limit orders. although there web site is somewhat cumbersome to navigate, i dont recall the accessibility problems.
i'm getting closer to yamner brokerage, about $35.00/order, but they will work your order for you, and they get a small pct if they get you better than your offer...try www.yamner
