(NYSE:MTC - news) expects its Roundup Ready transgenic soybeans to provide 50 percent of Argentina's 1998/99 crop, the multinational's local president said late Wednesday. ''In the preliminary plans we never thought we could reach 50 percent penetration in the third season (after genetically-modified soybeans were introduced in Argentina),'' Monsanto Argentina President Carlos Popik told Reuters.
