Tenchusatsu - RE: Your response to my <In my opinion your response to Scott is a little loud. Let me tell you why.>

I wasn't trying to jump on your case, & I respect you for not trying to jump on mine. If you say that <According to Tom's Hardware, Pentium II 350 MHz beats a K6-2 350 MHz in Winstone 98 under Windows 95 (28.3 vs. 27.2)> I believe you. You seem to be based in fact(though I'll check out the test conditions tomorrow), & will accept your opinions based on my general reading of them(your opinions).

<But I remember how people preaching the Intel-alternatives like Cyrix and AMD kept mentioning that although Intel's processors are much better at floating-point, only a small percentage of applications actually depend on it. Once the K7 is released, we can see an interesting reversal of positions, where Intel-supporters will try and argue that floating-point doesn't matter as much.>

Yes, & I'll bet that remembering <how people preaching the Intel-alternatives like Cyrix and AMD kept mentioning that although Intel's processors are much better at floating-point, only a small percentage of applications actually depend on it.> bugged you. In the same time period I was all psyched up on how great the AMD/Cyrix chips were, but didn't BET any money on Cyrix.

From my perspective, any company which is going to try to make a run at the CPU business is going to have to have a chip which seriously outperforms the corresponding INTC chip, for the money.

I just thought you were a little loud, especiallly for you.
