1) Katmai is late. Too bad. Probably "all because talented people have to be shifted around to fill the holes left by all those who jumped ship. Or so the rumor goes...."

2) Microsoft has taken credit for creating the "incompatability." You get the patch that fixes their poor code directly from them. This thread has been over this 600 times since we first found out about it months ago. Damn, the Pentium can't divide properly, "all because talented people have to be shifted around to fill the holes left by all those who jumped ship. Or so the rumor goes...." I even have a website to prove it:

igc.apc.org

3) If an AMD VP makes a flat out statement that the K7 FPU will be 2x as fast as any other x86 CPU out there, then the claim has to be taken seriously. If he was lying, AMD would be legally obligated to make a correction. Now, it may be true that the K7 will show 2x faster FPU performance for SOME applications but not others, but even if this is the case this still indicates that the K7 represents a dramatic improvement in FPU performance over current x86 CUs.

4) Elmer, What do you think the K7 is going to feature a 100 MHz BSB? The standard K7 BSB doesn't need to match the Xeon anyway--remember, AMD is targeting the $1500 to $2500 market with the K7.
