You know, it wouldn't surprise me if this turns out to be the case. Again it calls for clarification of the question; Faster at what? AMD has deliberately left this unanswered. If it turns out that the K7 is the fastest processor in the world at blasting mutant aliens (TM EPHUD '98) in dos mode under OS2 2.1, AMD can say their claims were correct. Now I don't expect AMD to pull that trick, but it would still be nice to get them to clarify their statement. Faster FPU is possible and it would backup their claim. It would make the K7 an attractive choice for some applications. Intel has put a lot of effort into speeding up their integer unit and perhaps placed less emphasis on the FPU. Time will tell. EP
