I think the problem, unfortunately, is that for the most part they're not just pretending to be dumb. They really are. They've spent days trying to make some sense out of the transcript of the injunction hearing, and can't manage it. It's way too full of stuff that probably makes them feel uncomfortable, and they have no idea how to deal with it. So they behave even more idiotically than usual.

But I agree with you: I can't imagine why they think this approach might be helpful to the company.
