Agreed. And is this supposed to mean e-commerce won't be significant?<<
Actually, no. This is sort of a side-topic relating to AMZN, AOL, and YHOO's combined market cap being worth more (at least as of yesterday) than the combined market cap of Boeing and the top five largest airlines in the USA.
I noted this fact last night, and questioned the idea that AMZN, AOL, and YHOO (top three internet stocks) were worth more than the Boeing Airplane Co plus the five largest airlines. It was a question of economic worth and economic importance.
Somebody actually responded that "we use these internet companies far more than the airlines, so this doesn't suprise" them. I was just too stunned to reply to that. I am a frequent internet user, but I have never gave a dime to AOL, never gave a dime to Yahoo or clicked on a banner there, and as for AMZN, well I admit I bought a book from them once, a couple of years ago. Meanwhile, I give $250/yr to the local ISP and phone co. for access and a second phone line while I spend $480 to $1100 on plane tickets for vacations.
I also breath a lot of air, but I don't put stratospheric values on oxygen-supply companies. |
