"Interesting, but an overreaction, I think. For heaven's sake, the thing was obviously a joke. And in any case, by now it's ancient history." My god, I've got speak out here too, Janice. I agree with you and I'd take it one step further (and this paraphrases parts of the discussion on the other DOCU thread a couple of weeks ago): let's see a show of hands of those who can tell a hoax from an honest post. Eh? The only reason we found out it to be phony was because it stood out like a bad joke. How about all those joyful posts that we read every day..everyone knows what side of the barn most of these shareholders' opinions come from. In my opinion, we are all perpetrators and culprits - can we chill out on the preachiness? If an insider did it, they'll eventually get caught. If a Joe (or Josephine) Blow did it, good for them - they deserve our gratitude in revealing our gullibility. Also, if a Joe Blow did it, what, besides being an ethical scumbag, are they guilty of? I mean, this is an open marketplace - its not a news service. Hopefully, people will act responsibly but you know they won't and don't. And this returns us to my first point: how many people on SI knowingly make false and/or misleading statements? And finally, there's nothing quite like the PR value of a SEC investigation and a stock manipulation tale to send the value of our shares soaring. (Did any one notice the post about AOL hiring a former CIA employee to run security..now isn't that special)
Nothing like a good rant to start a week. Thanks guys. |
