Voodoo3 is Banshee2 and they did beat our performance expectations in terms of how fast they are going to be able to clock the chip. I think the addition of a second TMU was also a nice addition that I was not expecting. However there are some other issues that they did not address that could potentially hurt them next year, the most noticeable one seems to be the 16 bit Z-buffer. Check out todays Voodoo Extreme column by Brian Hook (Grandmaster B). I personally find him very opinionated but I do not seem him being biased in favor of one company over another. 3Dfx's current feature set is becoming more and more of a liability. Glide used to allow their chips to do things other cards could not, now 3DFx is at a feature set disadvantage. It will be real interesting to see the performance numbers of the RAGE 128 when it ships. 3DFX has made alot of progress in becoming a more mainstream graphics company but the change in developers attitude towards them is very troubling.
