"I've been following the deflationary trends in this country for a long time. My take is that historically those cycles are extremely long, and deflation or price stability are the norm. Not inflation." This is true under Greenspan reign only. Only the trade inbalance has a chance of causing GOLD to rise. And as can be seen from the most recent trade figures, a currency fluctutaion is all that is needed to mitigate that.
