ztech: Thank you for bringing an interesting application to our attention. I do not want to speak for Mr. Hamza so I will say that for my part my interest in smart card applications at the moment is limited to physical building security and how it will enable ALYA to get off the ground in this field.

If you have been reading the most recent exchanges between Mr. Hamza and myself you will see that what was formerly AT & T and is now Lucent Technologies engaged in issuing such a card more than 4 years ago. The people at Lucent tell me that not all of their divisions use it for building access but those that do have a number of activities encoded on the same card. These people did not seem to know anything about "open" technology, Echelon, LONworks or ALYA but they said that would not be uncommon at their level. I still have gotten any response from the hardware manufacturer. Since they are a privately owned entity I don't know how far persistence will get me but I have not given up.
