HiStakes,

The ticker applet is pretty helpless when it can't talk to its server. It really doesn't know what to say, how long it will be down for or anything, which is why the messages are not that informative. You should check the Stockwatch System Status page.

If your support email makes it to me, I won't usually suggest rebooting. If someone does ask you to clear your cache and try again, its because the applet archive file may have been corrupted when it was downloaded onto your machine. Sometimes this may help. Restarting your computer, is usually of no benefit.

Adding a live gold index to our ticker is a good idea, do you have any particular index in mind?

Note on Stockwatch support: I will be reading this forum and responding to some issues, but this thread will not be the primary channel for Stockwatch customer support. For the best support email the webmaster or post to the Stockwatch Chart forum on the Stockwatch website.
