Simon,

I did not mean to imply that Glide was responsible for their feature set issues. I was just trying to say that 3DFX used to be the card that you got because it was the one card that could do everything. Now it is looking like it is the 3DFX card that is the one with limitations. Granted it will be very fast at least on most games but Brian Hooks comments on the speeds of various graphics cards running Quake Arena is very troubling.

I think the Voodoo3 buys 3DFX time as long as the ATI chip is not fast enough to run in 32 bit color. When Nvidia respins TnT to .25 micron then 3DFX may have problems. I think most people would prefer to run in 32 bit color at 1024*768 with no artifacts then at 16 bit color at 1280*1024 with artifacts and dithering. If a respin of TnT gives people this option then 3DFX is going to have an image problem in more ways then one. If the ATI Rage128 is not fast enough and the TnT shrink takes too long then I think the Voodoo3 will be very successful.

Eric
