The Siemens agreement apparently includes upgrades to Siemens CO switches. This means that in a Siemens equipped CO, AWRE technology would be installed on their EWXX switches as a substitute for a DSLAM. This type of configuration could be the eventual rollout of DSL (10-20 yrs from now) everywhere, IMO. One problem for AWRE, very few Siemens switches are installed in the US. Most RBOCs use LU and NT switches, where AWRE technology is not used. In fact, NT has its own DSL substitute. Siemens is widely deployed in Europe though. But the problem there is infrastructure. Not up to par with the US, resulting in even slower deployment.

The ADI chipsets are used by several DSLAM companies, according to the press reports, but I don't know which.
