To answer your question on Alpha, it is a measure of the stocks performance independent of the market or return in excess of market returns. Although you said you know Beta I tell others who do not know. It is a measure of the relative trend of the stock to the market (both up and down). A trend moving faster than the market, Beta is normally greater than 1, a stock slower than the market a beta is less than 1. MPT Review ranks all the best performing stocks and this is where I get the info. CMGI has an Alpha 15% and a Beta of 2. There is only about 5 companies out of 500 on the list with a higher alpha than CMGI, only about 2 with a higher beta.
