I'm using a cable connection through Shaw@home. (Calgary) The difference is astounding and also shows you where the bottlenecks are. Getting to most sites is instantaneous - getting IN to some sites, like to Greenline, is still a problem. At that point you are still somewhat at the mercy of the Greenline server if the traffic is heavy. But IMO, at $40.00, it's a great deal and if you have it in your area, it is well worth getting. By the way you can avoid some of the installation charges by getting your own card and doing the set up yourself once the cable is in. Also, when they were promoting in Calgary, if you happened to mention the competition, they would wave the installation fee. I just kept asking questions until the guy said 'Bingo' you get free installation. Don't know if it will still work, but it's worth a try.
