Alan, as you know, our roots in our past is what defines us both genetically and spiritually. We cannot change our genetics but we can change our spiritual understanding by going back and discovering what is truth and what is myth. God said "know the truth and the truth will set you free." How can we know the truth unless we use the grace that God is willing to release to us when we discover our mistaken beliefs? You can choose to break the bonds that you find yourself in by becoming a seeker of what was that has caused the reality in your life today.
