Alan,
That will not be Satan, that will be a test of my belief in the spirit, or the body. As you say yourself, a gun pointed your way is a very similar dilemma to the one that Christ faced. If someone points a gun your way, you will immediately realize that you face the same dilemma as He did, and that his death did not spare you the ordeal in any way, but merely offers you guidance as you go through it yourself.
Ironically, the one pointing the gun at me is probably either doing so out of a belief that I am Satan, a failure to perceive the light of God within himself, or as the Bible says, "They know not what they do".
Satan is not necessary in this equation. Only a belief in a lack of God's light.
Alan, the question you asked IS a very tough question. And I agree I will be severely tested if it ever comes. But if I perceive that I will fail, then I have already failed. This is how I feel about giving error the concrete form of Satan. It is an acknowledgement of defeat, and belief in lack of light. Tough, scary, relevant point, Alan, good work. But remember, if it ever does happen, and come through it with bodies intact, if we allow it to haunt us, then we have created Satan for ourselves.
Peace, Darrin |
