The Moslems hate recreational drugs

Charles, correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the word "assassin" derive from the same Arab root as Hashish??

While Arab society scorns the use of opiates and the like(except to sell to decadent westerners.. :0), there is a certain tolerance for hash and Khat.

As for Turkey, I am basically writing off the deal given the political uncertainty there. There will be a vote of no confidence this week and the gov't will likely fall, taking all of MANOVA's gov't connections with it, I suppose.

As for the Kurds, thanks for the Education. My wife's family, being Armenian, has provided me some horror stories or there interactions with the Turks.

However, the brutality of one culture has been easily matched by the counter-brutality of groups like the PKK. These people are at war and it is no holds barred where the last man left standing wins.

And there good and bad on both sides. But one thing that overrides the cultural stife is the economic inequality. The latter will inevitably lead to the former, whereas if everyone feels they are getting a fair shake under the current regime, they may be less inclined to rock the boat.

Also, look for Greece to take advantage of the Turkish political strife and push them on Cyprus.

Regards,

Ron
