XOOM.com , an internet-based direct marketing company, hopes to sell 3 million shares to new investors for $9 to $11 in an IPO with ticker XMCM.

They will have 12.1 million shares o/s after the IPO. They claim to have 4.5 million members.Among the products they sell over the internet are computer software and consumer electronics (sound familiar?).

Founded in 1996, they have yet to make a profit. they reported losses of $6.4 million on revenues of $4.9 million for the first 9 months of 1999.

By comparison AI has annualized revenues of $3.6 million, only 3 million shares o/s, and break-even or slightly better profit. Using a $10 IPO price as a guide, AI if roughly worth $10 x (3.6 mm /6.5 mm sales) x (12 mm /3 mm shares o/s) = $21.50 per share. This doesn't even contemplate AI's superior profit position vs. XOOM's projected loss of $8.5 mm.

Conclusion: Just as every other analysis has concluded, $5 for Anything Internet is way,way too cheap!
