The stock has had a remarkable run - although from a low that was completely unjustified (nice call again Merrill). The real run should have been from $40 to $58, not $26 to $58. As a long term bull, I think this company is in the early stages of becoming the premier communications merchant supplier. That said, in the short term, it certainly would not be surprising to see it consolidate and rest (although I thought the same thing when it was at $48!)

Someone said something about competitors and what happens if Lucent introduces a market smashing product. Lets go through a little education lesson - LU is very happy customer of PMCS - they co-developed one of PMC's fastest selling chips - the PoS Spectra. In addition, LU is NOT in the merchant business. Do you think Cisco or Nortel or Alcatel is going to buy a chip from LU? PMCS dominates ATM, dominates its portion of SONET, has plenty of room to penetrate further into the OEM ASICs, and is expanding into the Ethernet space. LU is not a threat. (plus LU is concentrating on photonics - the optical core is their vision of the future)
