3Dfx and Creative Labs both announced the Gateway win, so I'm wondering if you wanted a Gateway announcement? I doubt they'd make one, they swap out components all the time and rarely issue a press release (except the first time a product becomes available).

The TNT is an option on the various Gateways, but it is only standard on one (the very high-end machine). I'm not even sure that Banshee was available when the evaluation unit was sent to PC Mag.

As I've stated before, Gateway could decide to change cards at any point. That's one of the risks in the graphic card market and why wall street isn't going to give a above average multiple to companies in this field until there's more of a shakeout.

I'm sure that Q4 is in the bag, it is next year that I'm more worried about. The V3 chip had better come out earlier than the May/June time frame next year. Their price also seems a little high for the 2000 unit. Banshee is 30ish and they quote $35. If it is meant to replace Banshee, the price should be lower.

I think that they should've called the new chip Banshee2 and not used Voodoo3 as their name. The boost from the Comdex announcement went in the toilet fast once the hardcore group got a look at the full specs. I was happy at first because I thought that the new chip was 32-bit output (read the announcement - very vague). Heck, at 50% performance hit, it still would've been fairly fast and the DMers could've used 16 bit for speed.
