A friend and I decided to slaughter a hog one year. Had one delivered, not the suckling pig we hoped for but a live 450 pound Hampshire Hog. We shot it, skinned it [skinned because we didn't have the equipment to scrape it] and butchered it. Rendered the lard, made sausage, smoked the bacon. It was really better than store bought pork. 66 cent's a pound, over 100 man hours of work.
