Sam, I couldn't ignore this part of your post. Sorry to make an issue of this but your statement indicates to me that you never knew or forgot all you knew about God's "grace".
<<Third, many, even among the most virtuous of Born-Agains, reject the importance of works, since works, by their teachings, are unnecessary. In so doing, they make themselves no better than the priests and Levites who passed the man on the road who had robbed and beaten. the man who Jesus praised was the "unclean" Samaritan who stopped out of compassion and helped.>> Sam
I interpreted Christ saying "Many are called but few are chosen", as meaning that very few heed the call of grace , mainly because of the force of entrophy within us, but grace fills you to be ready and willing to happily accept the will of God when made known to you by the Holy Spirit.
With work debt is involved and you can not please God through works of the flesh. The grace of god is completely opposite from works. Sam, please seek enlightenment on the issue of grace before you speak on it.
Regards,
