They won't guarantee it.

I believe the question was asked to Hancock about the compatibility issue of NextOS. She stated that it will run on all current mac models (ie. Power PC 603 and 604 chips)

However when pushed to support on the older 601 chips she could not guarantee this. Apple is still continuing to sell the 601 series at discounted prices. I'm sure no one is buying and there is a glut of unsold goods.

Even performa sales have been poor as reported. Bottom line: Apple has a horrible marketing and forecasting team.
