CTC,

Sorry about the misunderstanding. I would like to take this opportunity to point out that I didn't consider the US Central Bank intervention in the currency market inappropriate at all - in fact I appreciated that very much - but only parallel in principle to similar steps taken by several other S.E. Asian Central Banks.

Perhaps being Keynesian has gone out of style, but I continue to hold that the capitalist system can only survive with a healthy dose of Government intervention from time to time. I feel that the nature of the intervention is very likely to be influenced by social realities in the particular country in question and may not be analyzed in isolation.

Cronyism to me in unacceptable in isolation as well as when linked to any particular economic system. But government intervention is not necessarily equivalent to cronyism in my book, nor does it necessarily lead to cronyism IMO.

But let us agree to disagree on that.
