Marden, you just don't get it. Qualcomm has, for a long time, said it is willing to license IPR for a 3G platform that is compatible with all three current platforms. The problem with Ericy's W-CDMA is that it has been created not to be compatible with IS-95. Since W-CDMA cannot be implemented without Qualcomm IPR, a "modified Q-CDMA" would be almost tantamount to cdma2000. I doubt Qualcomm could care less about the name, and if it will give some face saving to Ericy, call it what you will. The issue is convergence, so that all the platforms can be serviced.
