I was reading a review of a book on home canning, butchering hogs and so forth; the reviewer said she and her husband had used the book, and went on to describe the first time they butchered a hog: it was real cold outside, so they brought the hog around by the back door... her husband shot the hog with his gun, and then both of them (the man and his wife) went indoors to warm up for a few minutes. When they went back outside they discovered that the gunshot hadn't quite killed the hog, and boy, was he ever mad....
