EMC Creates New Global Alliances Organization Under Frank Farese, Vice President
Focus is on Providing Added Customer Value Through Enhanced Strategic Partnerships with Leading Server and Software Providers, Systems Integrators
HOPKINTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 23, 1998-- EMC Corporation, the world's leading provider of enterprise storage and software solutions, today announced the appointment of Frank Farese as Vice President, Global Alliances, a newly created organization responsible for managing and expanding EMC's worldwide relationships with resellers, software partners and systems integrators.

Farese, 42, has been EMC's Vice President, Reseller Channels. He was responsible for managing and accelerating EMC's partnerships with the eight major server companies who offer EMC Symmetrix Enterprise Storage systems as their preferred high-end storage solution. Farese will report to Robert Dutkowsky, Executive Vice President, Markets and Channels.

''This new organization represents the consolidation of our various strategic alliances into an integrated, worldwide functional team,'' said Dutkowsky. ''EMC's Global Alliances organization will continue to work closely with all of our partners server vendors, systems integrators and software providers -- to deliver best-of-breed enterprise storage solutions to our joint customers. We are fortunate to have an executive with Frank's background and record of achievement to further strengthen what is already the most extensive partner network in the storage systems world.''

Farese joined EMC in 1996 as Director of OEM Sales. Prior to joining EMC, he spent 17 years at AT&T in a number of positions, including Business Relations Director in the Chief Information Office, where he led AT&T's worldwide data center hardware and software acquisition teams. He also held a number of sales management positions within AT&T's Computer Systems division and was responsible for negotiating some of the company's largest system sales.

A member of the New Jersey Bar Association and a state-licensed attorney, Farese received his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University Law School in 1986. In 1990, he completed the Advanced Management Program for Executives at Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Farese received a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University in 1979. In 1992, Farese was awarded a Congressional Fellowship through the Brookings Institution and spent a year on the senior staff of U.S. Senator Arlen Specter. His primary responsibilities and expertise centered on international trade and involved interaction and the promotion of U.S. business opportunities with members of the European Commission and international business executives.
