Zbyslaw --
Since MCI/WCOM is a sponsoring member, I'm guessing this is the group mentioned at NGN98 in WN. It's extremely positive as it will do an end-run around the current log-jams of other politically sensitive standards bodies. I would imagine they'll work with these bodies, but after they've accomplished their goals in MSF.
The new forum is an open membership organization committed to reaching and promoting consensus on implementation of ATM-capable multiservice switching systems. These systems support voice, video, private line, and data such as Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), Frame Relay, and Internet Protocol (IP) services. Multiservice systems may use a broad range of access technologies, including traditional Time Division Multiplexing (TDM), Digital Subscriber Line (xDSL), wireless data, and cable modems.
I don't think you can get a more resounding affirmation of ATM than this. Terry has to be pleased.
