"Buy on the rumor; sell on the news." In other words, people may be expecting a positive earnings report hence they purchase early. Once the news comes out, stock continues up for a short period and those people who got in early will sell to take their profit.

Of course, if you're in for the long haul (like myself), who cares if they sell. Fundamentals are good, profit taking based on the news of good earnings is part of the game and we stay in for the long term growth as well.
