Those who compare Yahoo to AOL it appears do not see this.

Thanks for the reply. One thing I do see when comparing AOL and YHOO is that Yahoo was from the beginning a completely web-enabled service (i.e., html), and AOL has not been. That has not yet hurt AOL noticeably, but I expect that there may be some serious growing pains as the transition (and I hope they do). More directly, I think that had they converted earlier they'd have been in a stronger position over the past couple years. I admit I haven't weighed the advantages of AOL's proprietary interface very carefully; just an html gut feeling. And it is an obvious strength that AOL has a huge base of customers paying monthly. I don't yet see how Yahoo can replace or join a similar model, but I wouldn't put it past them.

BTW, you'll think I'm crazy but I still think Yahoo can overtake AOL's market cap over the next couple/few years :-).
