Thread: Laptop networked into Desktop - Access to cdrom, modem?

Hi all! I need some help with the purchase of a laptop. I'm thinking about getting one without a cdrom drive due to weight considerations. However, I'll need to have access to one in order to load software.

I've got one on my desktop and was thinking about networking them together (DT runs win98 LT runs win95) in order to get access to the DT's cdrom. Will this work? I've never networked anything so where should I look for step by steps?

Additionally, I'd like to access the i'net on the notebook via the one-way cable modem on the desktop. Possible? If possible where can I get step by steps?

Thanks VERY much for any assistance you can provide.

Dale
