This is really a key statement. People often try to equate a slowdown in US retail PC sales to a general industry slowdown. The figure above really puts things in perspective. In addition much of this 10% is now going through the direct channel (i.e. DELL, GATE, MUEI - Micron) which is booming so the US retail channel probably accounts for something less than 5% of the worldwide market. Hardly a bell weather for the industry.
