David,
Sorry if I let my frustration with Emile carry over to you in my last post. You speak of the word of God well. Jesus, if one believes in him literally, also spoke of the word of God. Jesus would not have sought to be worshipped, in my opinion. If one has the true spirit of God within, they are as wise as all the words of the Bible. I am not saying that the words of the Bible are not one route to that knowledge, by any means. What I am saying is that the same words are interpreted differently by all who read them, who are still seeking truth. The words that God or Jesus would have us read are on the true book within. Jesus sought to show us that book, not to name it after him. He did not want people memorizing and reciting the beliefs of Jesus, but wanted us ourselves to find and access our own source of wisdom. In this way, I feel that the historical Jesus would not judge who is Holy and saved and who is not, based upon whether they call their book within Jesus, or God.
Hmm...maybe I am not taking my own advice, and am taking that idea a bit too far in the other direction, being a bit too hard on Alan and a few others. That is surely something for me to think about.
Peace, Darrin |
