Mr. Dodson, I understand your need for clarification on this specific rumor, however, it is the Company's policy not to comment on market rumors or on matters of corporate structure. I would refer you to comments made by Pat Nettles, our CEO on CNBC about 2 weeks ago -- he stated that:

CIENA is currently focused on building the business and not on selling the company. Going forward, as has been our practice in the past and as was the case when the
Tellabs opportunity presented itself, our Board of Directors will evaluate opportunities for strategic partenerships and combinations on a case-by-case basis as they arise.
