Noblesse, Thanks for all your input here. I am
wondering why you tone down IBM's interest in NPIX
FDDI. I was just reading the article on their website
about how IBM is integrating the NPIX FDDI into their
products starting 2nd Qtr 97 (NPIX). Isn't 2nd Qtr 97 starting in
two months for NPIX. This would be the perfect time for them to
merge. A good fit on the FDDI side while getting some of the
best technology available on the Fast-Ethernet side.

Reading thru the press releases on NPIX Home Page is impressive.
I can see why a large company would want to scoop them up before
another one does. As others have noted before this, it appears
that distribution channels provided by a large company would boost sales
immediately, helping to turn a nice return on the investment as the Fast Ethernet
market grows. I saw an article in Electronic Buyer a few months ago
that predicted 200% growth in ethernet market, I think the time period was
over the next two years. Does this sound correct to you? I am not an
expert.

Also, I noticed in an article on Cable Modems that the author mentioned
the need for people to use an ethernet card on there home computer to
be able to fully utilize the higher bandwidth when they hook onto the
cable modem. Is this another reason
why everyone is getting excited about ethernet? Will ADSL modems
and Satellite downloads require an ethernet card to fully use the
greater bandwidth?

Any information you can provide will be appreciated. Thank you!
