Bill,
I found pictures of the SurVivaLink's VivaLink AED in a medical equipment catalog. The thing looks small, and sounds easy to manage. I gives verbal instructions, and senses when it needs to defibrillate. The catalog lists the price as $2,850. Does anyone remember the price of Heartstream's?
Description: Automatic Analysis, Simple One Button Operation, Voice Prompter, Minimal Training Required, AHA Protocol, Manufacturer's one year warranty, Pads, case and simulator available
See it at medzone.com
We should call Heartstream, and ask them how there's is different. I wonder how many such devices will sprout up. There's sure to be competition -- not all avoidable by patent protection. Though I imagine there's a big enough market to support several good ones. Lives are waiting to be saved. It'll take more than one company to meet the need, at least at first.
I'll call Heartstream tomorrow, If I can find the time.
