The news didn't seem to hurt Microsoft today, did it? The way I see it, it weakens the government's case against "Microsoft The Monopoly" when the internet content is being carved up by such large players. If you view Win98 as an OS that uses a browser to show you the desktop regardless of where the content of that desktop happens to come from, a case could be made that there's now plenty of competition to show what that content is. The details of the OS move backward, while the browser moves to the front.

That's why Microsoft's chances of prevailing against the government will improve starting today.
