I was thinking about a comment I made on that previous post....something to the effect that "I trade so much differently now, compared to when I THOUGHT I knew what I was doing!"

Fortunately, I survived the learning curve, and consider myself lucky for having done so. I'm doing what I want to do and making a better living at it than anything else I could do. Looking back on it all though, I wish I had had the good sense to do one of two things:

1) Take one of those week long courses in daytrading. I know these are down in the States...one week intensive course costing something like $5,000.00 U.S. I remember scoffing at ever spending that much, but believe me my "tuition" for learning on my own makes that seem like such a bargain now.

2) Excluding taking such a course (which is based on U.S. trading systems anyway), I should have found someone who knew what they were doing and hired them just the same. -A one week private course ....teach me EVERYTHING you know. Show me how it's done.

For the countless hours I've spent learning, and learning.... and learning and relearning...and thinking I've got it...and screwing up...and learning and relearning....all I can say is uuuggggghhhhh, Thank God I'm well over to the "good side" of the learning curve!!

For those who read this thread, please don't think that this will "teach you" how to do it. It won't. It will give you an interesting glimpse into it, but not too much more. Do yourself a HUGE favour. Pay the bucks and take a course, or better yet pay the bucks and find someone to teach you privately...REALLY teach you. The money you'll save, and the insight you gain, and the hundreds of hours less you will need to spend, will be worth it many many times over. It is an awesome career choice if you approach it right and avoid some of the pitfalls that can wash you out leaving you only to ask what the hell happened!

Do it right...learn it right....and if you decide you really do like trading as much as you think you do, THEN make your move knowing that you're ready with the proper background and support.

If you're good at it, it can be extremely lucrative. It is a career that gives you ultimate freedom and control....and with the internet...the power to work literally from anywhere in the world. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea......but I think its the best career going!

All the best to all of you, wherever on the learning curve you are.

Kevin
