- Emile is clearly a miserable individual, trying to spread his misery. I resent this, and have a hard time restraining myself from saying so. IMO, Emile wants to be a Christian martyr, so not only does he not have a problem if he makes a statement that makes someone else uncomfortable, he's downright happy to do so. The more persecuted he is, the more he considers himself to be like the early persecuted Christians, and the more merit he sees himself deserving.
