George, hello

Afraid I have to agree. Meddling about in another country's politics is generally bad for business in the long term.

And the grim reality of our time slice is that the USA, while it is still the superpower du jour, is not the almighty entity it once was, either in the military, political, or economic sense. Interdependence has become a fact of life for everyone, though (by comparison) to a lesser extent for us.

That said, the Bush Administration's stated goal in leaving Saddam in power was that, de-clawed, he posed a lesser threat than the prospect of a potential unknown tyrant or fundamentalist regime which could further de-stabilise the region.

Time has shown that Saddam is a carbuncle whose nuisance factor is stronger than originally estimated - hence the renewed willingness to punch his ticket. And focused, limited strikes seems to be an idea which has some support for our allies and antagonists both, as loss of life would be minimal. We should make good use of this sentiment while it exists, as it will augment our position of world leadership.

Can I take your posting as another vote?
