Interesting about the volatility index in that the big peaks coincide with the bottom of the market. Throughout the previous bull market the index was relatively low and steady.

I don't see where or how the index is predictive of market action. Kaplan implies that when the volatility is low the market is ready for a fall because investors are too complacent. I can't believe investors are complacent at the moment. If they are not trading it must be because they don't know what to do.

Anyway, the price action of the present run-up from August lows shows an acceleration pattern and is beginning to look distinctly climactic. If this is the bull market of which you speak it will last a lot less than 6 months.
