Jim, thanks for the interesting article about NextWave, but it really only said "Gosh, these are big numbers we are talking about!!"

Sure the underwriters got miffed because they didn't get promised enough of IPO proceeds. Too bad for them. And George Schmitt, one of the GSM Nazis is bad mouthing it like any competitor does who doesn't have a good argument, but ends up looking weak in the eyes of customers. Having been a salesman for years, you don't bother trashing competitors - customers are looking for the weaknesses already. Better to talk about your own good points - customers don't like to hear trashing. It's weak.

What is most fascinating about Schmitt is that he managed to get to be in charge of Primeco for a time, which was amazing considering his background. But he soon got turfed out. Now Primeco is up and running.

NextWave should be able to as well. But there is going to be wild competition in the wireless industry and profits will only go to those who get it right. Already there have been victims of failure - those who bid too much and lost their deposits. NextWave was the most efficient bidder so already has advantages.

If I'm lucky, with some negative comment, I might get a reasonable deal on the IPO instead of having to pay through the nose!

Maurice
