I just got my packet from Antec that summarizes the merger. The brief answer to your question is that yes, the new entity should be more efficient.

But...the company states several times that operations of both companies have been, and the operations of the new company will continue to be, adversely affected by the state of the cable television industry. Both companies have TCI as their bigggest customer, and that company is currently refusing shipments of products from both companies. That problem appears to be industry wide, as cable operators focus more on squeezing more through their existing infrastructure rather than upgrading that infrastructure.

I still have about half the packet to read, but I am not optimistic. I am a short term trader that relies on technical analysis, but I always read everything a company sends me. I have never received anything this cautionary. I will exit my position on this stock at the next best point.
