I don't really know if anyone will buy ASPT. The settlement between ASPT and LU however involved resolution of ASPT's case against LU also. While ASPT paid LU 14M, the more significant part of the deal was the cross-licensing. ASPT gets to use LU's patents, for a fee, and vise versa. In CSCO's case, I would expect that there are more patents involved and probably a larger amount of money up front. In other words, what was available to ASPT by way of settlement may not be available to CSCO at all or on any basis approaching the ASPT deal. This may well be not enough to inspire a deal with ASPT. But factor in that CSCO has said that it wants to add voice to its data capabilities. Where can they get that end to end unless it's ASPT? Maybe they don't want it or need it end to end. Any one have any thoughts on the subject?
