"Emile, Read what you have actually written. "<<Jews rejecting the righteouness of God offered in Jesus and setting about establishing their own righteouness? Thanks for demontrating and giving URL to verify these truths Alan. Zionism fascism is pathetic!>>
Mark said: In other words, noone can be righteous unless it is someone I agree with. Everyone can attempt to be righteous. Your bias is so evident, it is scary. Above yousay only christians can attempt to be righteous, only they are entitled. Your truth is evident. --------------------------------------------------- In the Christian religion, righteouness is not a function of man's good works but simply a function of man's faith in Jesus.
Mark, This difference of perception concerning the attainment righteouness captures the essence and central disagreement between the Christian Church and modern Judaism. Is righteouness or the goodness of the individual established by works, or is it estblished through faith in Christ? This central precept is at the center of the Gospels and is also the dominate theme in the writings of St. Paul. How does man attain sufficient goodness to allow him to approach and fellowship with the eternal God of perfect goodness?
There are only three ways to get something that we desire. We can either work for it, get it as a gift or a combination of the first two. If we receive something as a reward for work, then we can feel proud that we have acheived it ourselves. If we receive something as a gift or as a combination of work and gift, then we owe our thanks and gratitude to the giver and to our works. If we receive it totally by gift, then we owe all gratitude and thanks to the giver.
Now let us return to our theme of attaining righteouness. To attain to a goodness or righteousness sufficient to have fellowship with a perfect God, means to keep the Commandments perfectly. We owe God perfect obedience in order to achieve a perfect righteouness. We set about following the Commandments and soon find that we are violating some in both thought and deed. We double up our efforts and succeed a little better, but remain miserable because we cannot attain that perfect righteouness or goodness that God and our hearts desire. We again stiffen the loins of our wills and determine to follow the Commandments, but again we fail. We need 100% obedience all the days of our lives to be perfectly righteous, but we cannot attain it. The situation becomes hopeless, and we despair of ever being righteous and good enough for God. This is the condition of the heart that is needed to bring us to an understanding of the Sacrifice of Christ. Seeing the hopeless of our fallen nature, God our Father, through His eternal Son, took upon himself our hopelessness, our sinfulness, and our evil nature that we might take upon ourselves His perfect nature and righteousness. Man cannot attain to righteousness through his own efforts and works because man, without Christ, has an evil nature. This is what Christ offers through His Cross.
Rom. 3 21: But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested being witnessed by the law and the prophets; 22: Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: 23: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Rom.3 27: Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith. 28: Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Rom. 4 13: For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14: For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:
Rom.10 3: For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. 4: For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.
Rom. 6 14: For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. ------------------------------
How do Christians attain to this faith that gives righteouness?
Rom. 10 17. So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
This has been a love effort by man, may the Holy Spirit put its love effort upon your heart and enlighten your spiritual eyes.
