Vladimir,

<<If you are correct then all the DMT modems as well as DMT chipsets are (or more accuratly will be) manufactured in the vialotion of the DMT standart established by ANSI. I am not very familiar with either CAP or DMT but it is hard for me to believe that all cos including big names like MOT, NEC, TXN will manufacture chipsets not capable to interoperate in accordance with ANSI standart.>>

Yes, this may well be the scenario at which we are looking. T1.413 is a VERY COMPLEX and AMBIGUOUS standard. One of the major problems with DMT is that it is a relatively immature technology from the standpoint of the general technical arena i.e. it is not well understood by many.

It was interesting to note that MOT and AMTX introduced contributions to T1E1.4 to correct a few of the MANY ambiguous parts of the spec. The is likely part of the reason that these systems do not interoperate properly...

It is the hope of many T1E1.4 members that the T1E1 CAP/QAM standard work will avoid these problems by adopting a clearly defined document from which it is easy to work. I believe that the CAP/QAM work will go smoothly and reflect some of the excellence seen by the industry standards such as ITU V.34.

Hope this helps.

Luke
